Student Activism and Engagement Coordinator
Reiko is a Boston-born, Denver-raised food enthusiast. If she can cook it, (and even if she can’t) she wants to eat it! Reiko is a goofball that loves collecting new skills, pretending that she likes exercise, and engage with everyone and everything around her but also loves spending time alone in the infinite chasm of her brain. She also loves learning, singing and dancing. Reiko graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelors in Political Science, Economics, and Latin American Studies. Shortly after, she began her journey into teaching as a Math fellow at Noel Community Arts High School in her childhood neighborhood of Montbello and then returned to her alma mater, DSST:Stapleton to teach US History and Spanish. After four years at DSST she turned her focus to growing her own mind at the Graduate School of Education at High tech High. There she learned about an amazing school that shared her belief in changing the direction of education. She chose to join the Moxie Collective as the Student Activism and Engagement Coordinator. because her fiercest passion in teaching is to help empower students with the ability and knowledge that they can learn anything they want regardless of circumstance.
