Programming Coordinator, Founder of YEBO
Born and raised in Colorado, Cory reimagines and designs the learning spaces of the future with local communities. His work with students and families is informed by his passions for storytelling, social justice, and retrofuturism. Cory’s professional interests and projects are rooted in building responsive educational experiences that support youth in developing into their righteously authentic selves.
Cory’s career in education has crossed great rivers, including experiences in Colombia and South Africa. As a Moonshot edVentures School Launcher fellow, Cory founded with community the Youth Empowerment Broadcasting Organization (YEBO), a program that uses pop-culture and media production to help youth surface, explore, and define their identities. Prior to Moonshot, Cory served as a dean of students and culture, a K-5 teacher and paraprofessional, and a site coordinator for Reading Partners. In 2014, Cory was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to South Africa. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Colorado Denver with a B.A. in English Literature and Creative Writing, and a minor in Ethnic Studies.
Cory is also a proud Donnell-Kay Foundation fellow and serves as a founding board member for the Colorado Youth Congress, where he supports youth in their efforts to work across lines of difference in service of the public good and create systems-level change. Cory’s vision is a society in which youth drive conversations and use their talents and gifts to uplift their heritage and create solutions for their community’s most pressing challenges.
